Christen holds a master’s license in social work, and as a psychotherapist at Life Change, she primarily works with couples who are seeking relationship support. She uses the Emotionally Focused Therapy model, which is an evidence-based style of therapy that honors the unique attachment in intimate relationships. She can help couples who are feeling distressed and isolated develop a map to reconnect and recognize each other as a source of strength.
Her background includes extensive work with grief and loss. As a clinician in hospice, she has often worked with couples during times of profound stress, where they understandably feel like everything is falling apart. “This point of crisis is also the invitation to do deeper work, and it’s the doorway to more deeply understanding yourself and your partner,” she says. Recognizing and honoring partners’ needs for each other is the goal of EFT–and Christen’s goal in working with couples.
